Version 0.3 will have the first experimental feature of the game, so let's break down what that means before detailing the feature itself:
An experimental feature is a mechanic in the game, that is only available to patrons with voting power (Tiers 2 & 3). It is something that for example alters the gameplay loop, etc. This feature is available in the build it is assigned to (in this case V0.3) and the community gets to vote on whether to keep or discard it.
If kept, it will be available to all subsequent builds. If discarded, it will be immediatly removed and not find its way into subsequent releases as well as Tier 1 & public releases of that version (again, V0.3 in this case).
So with that out of the way, let's look at the feature.
With ever more content and ever branching chats, the patchwork solution of "delete your save forever" would require the player to play through all chats again in case they are very unhappy with a choice they made and the resulting outcome.
We are still early in developement, but some chat choices can already have severe consequences for the story of a girl. This issue will likely get exacerbated the further we delve into a girls story path.
As a result, V0.3 will test a feature, that will let you reset a chat that just ended. It will fully delete every choice made, everything unlocked or locked and will reset the chat to the start. Once you hit "leave chat", the game saves as usual and your choice is locked in.
Why is this an experimental feature? I fear that players will just play through all the different chat scenarios, looking at each outcome of each choice, and then pick the one they like best, essentially gaming the system.
Sometimes this is not relevant, as some outcomes are not visible until later down the line. An example of this would be the cake scene for Lydia. It has severe consequences whether she brings a burned cake, a store bought cake, or her own well made cake to her grandmas' party.
Take your time in V0.3 and decide how this feature should proceed.
Voting ends 7 a.m. CET on March 13.
