DESCRIPTION

Hello everyone.

I'll be honest: I fucked up with the update.

There were a few language bugs in the game, bugs with Dana in the gym, and so on.

I apologize if this ruined your experience with the update, and I'm mad at myself for not paying attention, especially such significant ones.

I'm currently preparing patch V.0.5b, which will be released within the hour. It should fix all the relevant bugs that I'm aware of. If you know of anything else, please let me know, and I'll make another patch, through tears of blindness at how blind I am.

It's just cringe: you sit there for about a month, introducing new features and testing the game, then spend 5+ hours a day testing for a week before the release, then more and more and more, and after the release it turns out you seriously screwed up somewhere! Especially since I worked on this update more than any other, and the fact that your impression could have been spoiled by my inattention is very sad for me, as the author. But then again, it's entirely my fault.

A few words about bugs. Let's start with what we've unfortunately all noticed - incorrect language translations, namely, the "switch" to Russian during pizza time and at the bar.

In fact, this isn't a switch to Russian, but an unfinished part of the translation. Perhaps not everyone is aware, but the game is originally written in Russian. As a Russian speaker, it's much more convenient for me; it takes less time to understand what's going on (since my English is, unfortunately, rather mediocre). Only in the final stages of development do I translate the game into all languages, and then test it in each one. If you're interested, I might someday tell you about the peculiarities of translating on Renpy, why many novel authors don't translate at all, what problems you might encounter and what I personally encounter, and so on. If you're interested, let me know in the comments.

So, why were some parts of the text displayed in Russian in such a strange way, and not, for example, the entire Pizza Time or the entire Bar? It's all about setting up internal variables - pizza time in this version has been technically changed: the number of slices the girls take after eating depends on their fullness level, along with a couple other factors (for example, Pink doesn't eat much and doesn't take slices because then she'll be full by her drinking event, while an already full girl simply doesn't take any because she... already full, etc.). The lines where the girl takes a slice aren't written as regular text, but as variables (as far as I understand, haha), and variables aren't offered for translation when compiling translations using classic renpy methods. So it turns out that all the main text is translated, but the variable phrases are not.

Those who play in English don't know, but all this time, compliments to Dana during conversations were spoken in English, regardless of the selected language, because in the game, her compliments are pre-programmed into a single variable, English. In 0.5b, I decided to fix this, sort of along with the other changes.

The same goes for the bar. The drinks the girls choose today are random, and they were already written in Russian, but I simply didn't notice and forgot to translate them. Many people also wrote to me about broken events with Dana in the gym. I'll be honest: I still don't know what the problem is, but in 0.5b, I practically cemented the transition to the next stage in these events if all the conditions are met. It's just that despite all my testing, I've never encountered this bug. I look at the code and everything seems fine, but I don't know what the problem is. If you encounter it again, please don't forget to report it.

I'm experiencing some kind of post-release apathy :)

I'll give myself a day to rest, and then I'll continue working on Servant Expansion V.0.1. Spoiler alert: the plot is already writing, and from first impressions, it'll be at least decent, and possibly even great. You'll see everything closer to August, or in August.

Hugs to everyone, my friends, and thank you all for the kind words, despite my incompetence.
