About AI slop

Hello everyone!

I'd like to discuss a topic that concerns many: AI slop, particularly in my games.

I'll say this right away: I don't like anything that looks like AI slop, but it's true that AI slop often appears in my games, which is unpleasant even for me, let alone for consumers.

But what exactly is an AI slop? It's common these days to call absolutely everything made with AI that, but I don't think that's entirely accurate. After all, slop is something done sloppily, just to get the job done. AI-assisted design at least looks good, and it doesn't have visual artifacts like a sixth finger or anything else. To me, such work is simply work made with AI, not slop.

However, I've seen some people write about my game as an AI slop, which I fully understand and acknowledge, and so I'm addressing you, specifically those who pay me their earned money and play my game. I ask you to write down under this post all the slop art/sprites/backgrounds that you remember and that made you cringe and that need to be reworked.

I'll definitely listen. Furthermore, in the next version of each of my games, I'll rework most of the existing neuralslop (which I partially did back in OF 0.5, but not completely), and I'll also do everything I can to ensure that such art is as rare as possible.

The AI slop in my games isn't because I don't put enough effort into the art, although I think that's true, but because sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you just can't get anything BETTER than THIS. I remember Lisa's event in Stage 6 very well - your first meeting with Natasha. Her art still hasn't been redone because I simply can't do it well, no matter where or how I try.

I also saw someone writing that my text was written in Neural Network. I'll say it again - all events are written by hand, and I hope I never have to go back to that. I had some tiny bits of the game written in Neural Network, like a small portion of the dialogue during dinners, but that doesn't even make up 1% of the rest of the game's hand-written text. If I didn't disclose this <1% in advance, I apologize, but I still don't think that in that case, you could say all my text is neuralslop.

Perhaps it seems that way when playing in English. In fact, English translation are done in the same neural network as all other languages. After all, I'm not an English speaker and my English is quite poor, so I can only manually correct something after the translation is complete. Furthermore, I receive very little feedback on the translations, so I won't be able to correct them, as my language skills aren't perfect.

I also had ideas about adding AI videos of characters eating, but no matter how many attempts I made, they all came out too neuroslop, and I would never add that to the game. Here's my attempt at a video with Kaya. I don't think you'd need that.

(Video attached as a file).

Well, I'll share what I thought was the weakest point of the Demo Servant Expansion - namely, the scene with feeding by the kidnapper. It's already been completely reworked, and I hope it's improved. Here's an example of one of the reworked frames from it. And yes, the Demo Servant Expansion will be re-released with updated visuals about a week before the V.0.1 release.

From what I remember, in the late stages of OF 0.5 testing, I found about 7-8 pieces of art with the catgirl where she seemed to have extra toes. I apologize for that, but I'll clean it all up by OF 0.6; I just haven't had time (I've already screwed up the bugs).

I'll remind you of my request: if you remember any artwork that you considered neuroslop, let me know in the comments.

I really want to improve the visuals of my game so that it looks less and less like neuroslop, despite being made with neural network technology, and I simply can't do it without your help and your perspective.

And I'd also like to know what you think of the songs from the Kaya events. I personally really like the one that sounds like Lana Del Rey, even though it was created a long time ago and purely by accident, since she never intended to sound like the famous singer. But the result is something I've listened to quite a few times myself. And I'm just wondering - am I the only one who liked it, and was it a mistake to include it in the game?
