DESCRIPTION

Hello everyone!

It's been almost a year since I started writing the very first lines of code of the AniPlaylist app, and already 6 months since the app was released to the public. It has been an incredible experience so far. Reading your feedback is always a pleasure, seeing some of you use the wishlist feature to its fullest is incredibly motivating, and knowing you were excited to receive your first release notifications really means a lot to me.In just 4 months, 1,500 release notifications have already been sent through the app to notify you of your favorite anime songs finally being available on streaming platforms. I can't wait to see what we will get throughout 2026!

As you may already know, no one is currently getting paid to work on AniPlaylist. All the money earned through Patreon or our affiliation partners is reinvested directly into running the project: servers, search engine, music subscriptions, social media tools...

On a more personal note, I left my day job in 2024, and since then I've been working full-time on AniPlaylist. In 2025, I challenged myself to learn mobile app development and set a goal to release the AniPlaylist app within six months so I could promote it at Japan Expo, the biggest anime convention in France. It was stressful, but absolutely worth it. Six months later, we've already reached 4,500 downloads, and I'm incredibly grateful for your support and enthusiasm.

That said, I can't continue indefinitely without a sustainable way to earn money. I needed to find a solution that would allow me to value the time and effort I put into the project without betraying my commitment to keeping the core experience free for everyone.

Which is why I'm introducing AniPlaylist Premium, a paid subscription that will add exclusive features and advantages in the app while keeping the search experience you're used to accessible for free. Without further ado, here's what's coming!

AniPlaylist Premium

AniPlaylist Premium is the name for the paid subscription, it is available exclusively in the mobile app, starting from v1.2.3. As mentioned above, the core features of AniPlaylist will remain free, the subscription is a simple way for more people to support the project and enhance their experience of the app!

Priority release notificationsSince September, you may have received weekly batch notifications when songs from your wishlist became available in your country and on your music platform. Because these notifications are only sent once a week, you sometimes receive them days after the actual release. With AniPlaylist Premium, you will receive prioritized notifications on the release day of each song or album in your wishlist. Each notification will clearly display the anime title and song type, so you can immediately see what's been released.

Additional search filters

Since launch, the available filters have been limited to the main categories: Newly added, Airing anime, Upcoming anime, and Unavailable. While these are convenient for quick searches, they can feel limiting if, for example, you wanted to directly check the openings of all the anime that aired at a specific time of your anime journey...

With AniPlaylist Premium, a new filter button appears next to the search bar and provides the following filtering options:

Song and album types: Opening, Ending, Insert Song, Original Soundtrack, Character Song and more

Airing season/year: target anime that started airing during a specific season or year.

Record label: for those (like me) who like to know which label released an anime song

When filters are enabled, the button changes color and display a badge so you always know when they are active.

These are the first filters included with the subscription. More will be added over time, and I'd love to hear which filters you'd like to see in the future to improve your search experience in the app!

Extended wishlist limit

Premium subscribers also get an extended wishlist limit of 200 songs or albums, while regular users are limited to 25.

This limit is based on real usage data, ensuring there's plenty of room to try the app while encouraging people to support the project if they want to go further.

If you've already exceeded the limit (thanks for using the app so much!), you probably already received a notification on the app saying you have been granted an extended wishlist, so no one should suddenly be blocked by a paywall. Also, I'm not excluding extending these limits in the future.

Hidden ad banners

You may have noticed banners appearing above the search results of the app. These banners can display ads or an affiliation link to a partner service, which helps fund the project if you choose to make a purchase. Recently, I have extended this section to promote anime-related concerts available in your music platform's country.

For Premium subscribers, all ads and affiliation banners are hidden since you are directly supporting AniPlaylist, giving more space to the search results.

Conclusion

If you haven't already, you can download the app on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and start filling your anime song wishlist!

That's it for today, but I have many more ideas to make the app even more useful for anime music fans, and I hope you will continue supporting the project to help me bring them to life!

Thanks for being part of this journey.
