The End of Release Summary
It's with great emotion that I'm announcing the release summary format will graduate from the AniPlaylist Patreon by the end of April...
Jokes aside, I have been writing the monthly release summaries since 2020, but maintaining them every week was a pain for me, and the stats suggest that they weren't interesting for you to read either. So it felt like the right time to rethink how I share on this Patreon, and this post is the beginning of it!
If you were relying on the release summaries, you can still stay updated with new releases with the following options:

From now on, I'll be posting a new monthly article exclusive to our Patreon supporters. Each post will contain news about the project, what the team and I have been working on behind the scenes, some anime music release highlights, and progress on the goals and milestones I'm setting for AniPlaylist.
To give you a taste of what to expect, I wrote a recap of everything that happened from January to March. Most of it is free to read below, but the last section is exclusive to our Patreon supporters, as it reveals our next major update. 🤫
Q1 2026 recap episode (don't skip it please)
I know it's common to skip recap episodes, but I don't recommend doing that here. There's a good chance you'll discover something you didn't know about AniPlaylist yet. Take this as a compilation movie with additional footage!
AniPlaylist mobile app
In January, I introduced a paid subscription in the AniPlaylist app, allowing you to get detailed and priority release notifications, an extended wishlist limit, and additional search filters.
Aside from the introduction post I wrote a few months ago, I haven't made much communication about the subscription because I'd like to add more features before giving it more visibility. But a fellow app developer convinced me to release it ASAP, because the community would still be interested in supporting the app even in its current state... and he was right! So I'd like to express my gratitude to all of you who have already decided to support the app through a monthly or yearly subscription, and I hope you will be satisfied with what will come next.
On a more personal note, I had to take February and March to focus on a freelance project, which left little time for the app development aside from a few bugs and stability fixes.
Concerts and world tour coverage
I personally love going to see my favorite artists performing live, which I think is one of the best ways to connect with them.
If you follow AniPlaylist on X (Twitter), you may have noticed that I've started covering more concerts/tours from anime and J-music artists outside of Japan (Creepy Nuts, LiSA, QUEEN BEE...).
In the AniPlaylist app, you may sometimes see a slider showing upcoming live concerts in your country with affiliated ticket links. If you buy a ticket from these links, it will also help support AniPlaylist!
I have bigger plans for concert coverage in the future, so stay tuned!
Social media "rebranding"
I have also decided to rethink how AniPlaylist posts on social media. The old approach of only sharing one song per post and limiting the number of posts per day was causing delays, sometimes up to two weeks during the early season.
I spent the end of last year creating a new format allowing me to share releases by batch on a daily basis. I also wanted this format to be shared on more social media, so now we are also posting releases on Instagram, Threads, and Facebook.
Some bad news...
Those three months also had some bad news for us.
First is from Spotify, who decided to limit and remove features from their API, dealing a huge blow to many indie developers hoping to build something in their ecosystem. For now those changes have been postponed, but nothing is off the table... Last year already, they made a change preventing developers from deploying their app to the public unless they had 250k monthly active users, which is nearly impossible to get while being independent.
The other bad news is from X/Twitter, which decided to move TweetDeck from their Premium to Premium+ subscription without prior notice. In 2023, they already kind of forced me to take Premium ($8/month) in order to keep using Tweetdeck, which I was fine with since it makes keeping up with the anime/artist/record label news much easier. But now I would need to pay $40/month and I can't afford this much, so I opted for a slightly more traditional approach: making lists in different tabs 💀
Now let's focus on the upcoming good news with our next major update!
A new music streaming platform is coming!
AniPlaylist will soon support a third music streaming platform, Deezer 🎉
Earlier this year, we were accepted into Deezer's affiliate program, meaning that we can earn money if anyone subscribes to Deezer through one of our track or album links. This is exactly the kind of integration that makes sense for AniPlaylist, as we mainly provide links to our community.
Until now we only had this type of affiliation with Apple Music (Spotify doesn't have any affiliation program, unfortunately), and it has really helped keep the project afloat financially.
Of course, this means we now need to provide Deezer links in the app, website, and on social media, which is exactly what I'm currently working on. I'm glad to share that I have made really good progress on it, hoping to make Deezer links available by the end of the month or early May.
I will focus more on the Deezer integration in the post coming in a few weeks, so stay tuned!
In conclusion...
This new written format is not an easy exercise for me, I tend to rewrite every sentence over and over until I'm satisfied (which I'm never), which means a simple paragraph can sometimes take longer than expected. But I see it as a challenge, and I still hope you enjoyed reading 😅
