We were in need, and you gave what you could
Not for fame or recognition, but for reasons good people would
Your kindness keeps us afloat, our lives far more bearable
For shelter, for transport, for safety, for food
Many of you have little enough to offer
Your lives just as hard, perhaps even harder
Yet here you are, good souls one and all
All for the sake of whom to you a mere stranger
We cannot express the depths of our gratitude
For the aid you’ve rendered that strengthened our fortitude
Though they may not be much, just words and a picture
Know that you’ve made a difference, and we thank you forever after
If only there were more hours in a day
How many more stories I could write, how much more I could say
You deserve thanks beyond just words on a screen
Yet, this is all I can give without further delay
I will not keep this long; you’re all likely busy
So here’s the last I’ll say, for the past, the present, and the days to be
I’ll do my best to write with quality and post with regularity
It’s the least I can do, for those who’ve helped my family
