Hey gang.
We finally managed to get that animation updated, so if anyone is waiting to play as I know some of you were, you can go ahead.
Animation Vs Animator
So, Jim pointed out a few days ago that we are still struggling with animators. We have plenty to get in contact with but we have to test each one out to make sure they are good enough and it takes a good chunk of time.
I’ll reiterate a point Jim made. We will be pushing the next NTR episode to coincide with the Release 10 to give us some time to try these guys out.
It feels very odd going through the applications of animators with their beautiful artistic work and wondering, “Yeah, but can they make 2 people shag and make it look sexy?” It makes me appreciate the nuance that simple statement involves. Two humans, on the realer side of realism than a cartoon. They have to move in a realistic way, working against gravity and the forces that they are applying to each other’s bodies. They have to bounce, jiggle and emote. The animator also need to be able to simulate the motion of the hair in such a way that it loops, meaning every strand of hair has to be back in the same place it started from in the first frame.
It’s work but…
I honestly wonder. Young person, fresh from studying 3D animation. Perhaps they dream of working for Pixar or creating exciting battle animations in some triple A game. Aaand, they are asked to do porn.
It’s easy for me, I want to be here doing this. I think my young self would have found what I do truly awesome and I’m grateful to Jim for inviting me to do it with him and make something as good as we do. A part of me wishes I had the confidence to have started years ago.
There are some great NSFW animators out there. I hope that these folks we bring in can find the artistry and satisfaction in making the porn as good as it can be…I’m just not sure they’ll put it in their show reel.
What I’m up to
Episode12 writing continues. Again, I can’t say much as it’s way too easy to spoil things with where I am. Even a casual mention would make it obvious what has happened in episodes you have yet to play.
I decided today, “This needs more sex”. You know, you get to a point and it’s like, yeah, the people who played that specific option will enjoy this but we need to make sure that there is something for everyone else and, well, if I write that sex scene I have in my head, I’ll need to make sure there is another option for people who wouldn’t like it.
This is how the episodes get so big.
Ah well, I know that Jim is always up for another sex scene in the game. Now we just need the animators to make them all glorious.
Taking a break
Jim pointed out that we will be planning a short break soon. Partially, we just need to take some time off. Step away from the porn and relax with some really good porn that someone else made.I actually picked up City Skylines 2 in the summer sale so that’s my break planned (if my wife doesn’t find too many jobs for me to do).We’ll also take some time to go over what we have so far. We need to play the different routes from the start and plan any changes we might want to make. That should also mean looking for places where we can add more content too. There are also logistical things it would be great to sort out. We can play with some new workflows and techniques that we don’t have time to explore otherwise.
We’ll be sure to let you all know when we step away for a bit and how long for. Some time around the end of summer.In the meantime, work continues apace.
