Mercer parties had a way of making you feel small.

Not necessarily in a bad way, just in the way very expensive places could intimidate. And Adrian certainly felt intimidated right now. High ceilings, expert lighting, polished marble floors, and glass walls overlooking the glittering night skyline of Manhattan. The rented ballroom on the thirty-second floor hummed with quiet conversation between people who all seemed to own something significant. It was quite overwhelming.

Adrian Pierce leaned against the marble bar, swirling the amber liquid in his glass, and tried to project an air of casualness. “Mercer really outdid himself this time,” he muttered.

Next to him, Lucas Hale followed his gaze across the ballroom. Investors, executives, a few politicians. A string quartet in the corner. Staff moving quietly through the crowd with trays of drinks.

Lucas chuckled. “Give it a minute.”

Adrian raised an eyebrow. “You’re waiting for something?”

Lucas leaned closer and lowered his voice slightly. “Oh yes. You’ve never been to one of Dominic’s parties before, have you?”

Adrian shook his head.

“I’ve done business with the man for years, but this was his first invitation.”

Lucas smiled knowingly. “Well then.”

He nodded toward the sweeping staircase that descended from the upper gallery. “Watch.”

For a moment nothing happened. Guests chatted. Glasses clinked. The quartet shifted into another elegant melody.

Then the murmuring changed. A few people turned toward the staircase. A woman near the bar gave a soft laugh. And Lucas nudged him with his elbow.

“Hey look,” he said quietly, arousal creeping into his voice. “The entertainment has arrived.”

Adrian turned and looked.

Three lovely figures were descending the staircase together. At first glance they looked like models stepping out of a fashion show. Perfect posture. Smooth, graceful steps. Glossy heels clicking softly against the marble.

Their outfits caught the light as they moved. Sleek latex bodysuits hugging their curves, black satin bows tied neatly at their collars. Blonde curls bounced softly around their faces as they walked, their lips glossy, their eyes bright under careful makeup.

They wore shy smiles as they reached the bottom of the stairs.

Adrian blinked slowly. “…You’re kidding me.”

Lucas grinned into his drink. “Nope.”

The trio moved through the crowd slow and teasing, now that the eyes of the room were on them. One of them brushed past a guest deliberately close, her hip swaying as she walked. Another stopped beside a group of bankers and dipped into a small, playful curtsey, the latex stretching tight across her hips as she rose again.

The tight latex of their bodysuit did nothing at all to hide the outlines of what cleary were tight little chastity cages. Adrian heard of Mercers peculiarities, but now, for the first time, he fully understood the appeal.

Adrian watched one of them lean down slightly so a gray-haired executive could whisper something in her ear. She giggled softly, touching his sleeve with delicate fingers before moving on.

Adrian exhaled slowly, smiling. “Jesus. You’re telling me everyone here just… knows?”

Lucas shrugged. “Open secret.”

Another laugh rose from the crowd as one of the sissies curtsied again, cheeks flushing pink under the attention.

Adrian took a long drink. “Well,” he muttered. “…that certainly beats a string quartet.”
