DESCRIPTION

Stripe is still being obstinate, and vaguely gesturing toward "banking partners," but behind the scenes I've heard other stuff. I won't get super into rumors and gossip, but there is evidence to suggest that leadership at Stripe may ideologically support this kind of censorship. It seems much of Itch's reaction to this situation was specifically due to Stripe and their more extreme antiporn position even compared to other payment processors. Steam does not use Stripe, and Stripe is placing further restrictions on content far above and beyond what PayPal, Mastercard, and Visa are.

Fortunately, if Stripe insists on being obstinate and radical in its desire to censor the Internet by unlawfully de-banking legitimate businesses, Itch may not have to go as far as dealing with a "high-risk" adult-content-friendly payment processor to replace them. This gives more credence to their claim in the NSFW addendum FAQ where they indicated they were exploring their options for other payment processors. Based on what I've heard, 95% of the panic and chaos over at Itch was due to Stripe and Stripe alone.

If you have time, and this censorship and blatant authoritarianism pisses you off, I encourage you courteously call these weird freaks and let them know: https://yellat.money

I haven't even gotten to the shit the UK is doing. Just upload some pictures of Norman Reedus, don't give every site on the Internet a photograph of your face and a list of your fears. Innit. Bo'le o' wa'er. Bruv. Etc.
