Summer Update.
DESCRIPTION

I know this is last-minute, but DotF is entering its summer break a month early this year. I’ve gone back and forth on this over the past week, and I had to pull the trigger today.

As such, today’s chapter will be the last one for two months.

There will be no Patreon Charges during the break. I am pausing it starting today. If you cancel your subscription during this during this time, you will still lose access to early access and discord roles.

There are two reasons for this, the first being the current place in story for the Heaven’s Chosen tier. I’ve gone through my chapter drafts and bullet points, and I believe that stopping just before the final section of the Ultom mega-arc begins in earnest is simply more practical. It avoids unnecessary cliffhangers while keeping certain plotlines open for me to tinker with over the summer.

Secondly, I currently have my hands full with another project:

As you may or may not have heard, Defiance of the Fall is getting a physical release through Barnes and Noble just like He Who Fights With Monsters. We have decided to do a major editing pass for these editions. I’m talking 15,000+ revisions for Book 1 alone.

This edit pass is intended to accomplish a few things. Defiance of the Fall is the first thing I wrote seriously. The first book, in particular, suffer from beginner mistakes. The edit will cull these along with overused terms and idiosyncrasies. Secondly, measurements will generally shift from metric to imperial, as it is a US-release.

Finally, I am retconning certain aspects of the story that does not make much sense in hindsight. The biggest offender is the inconsistent grading of treasures and items in the early books. I hadn’t fully figured out the grades at the beginning (Mainly the Low-Peak/Supreme scale), which led to odd things like Zac using E-grade arrays and absorbing E-grade Nexus Crystals while a Level 25 mortal.

The Fruit of Ascension is even graded as D-grade. Knowing what we know about Hegemony today and the vastly higher amounts of energy in D-grade treasures, having F-grade cultivators compete for such a thing makes no sense. Rather than the gradual soft-recons that currently exist in the story, I want the progression to align from the get-go.

There are a few more issues like this, such as Nexus Stations. In fact, if you remember something being out of place during a re-read, feel free to send me a message over on Discord. This will be the definitive edit of the book which will give new readers a better starting point while providing the old re-readers with a fresh edition.

Preorders are already going up in two weeks. It is extremely important to reach a sufficient number of preorders in this kind of release for the books to get properly stocked and displayed in stores. As such, I have to focus on this end of the franchise to ensure there's no delays and that it's the best version it can be.

TL;DR:

Summer break starts tomorrow.

Charges are paused as usual.

Physical release preorders open on the 15th.
