DESCRIPTION
Stephon Alonzo Clark, a 22-year-old, was fatally shot on March 18, 2018, in the backyard of his grandmother’s home in Sacramento, California. Two officers from the Sacramento Police Department discharged 20 rounds, mistakenly thinking he was armed and had aimed a weapon at them. The shooting happened in a place where Stephon should have been safe, and the tragedy has ignited ongoing debate over police use of force and its lasting impact on families and communities.
