DESCRIPTION

Hello all you gorgeously supportive people!

This update is just for paid subscribers. I’m not sure exactly when but Patreon at some point also began allowing non-paying subscribers, which I can’t help but feel defeats the point of this platform but I guess I need to learn more about it all! But anyway, for now I just have a couple of things to tell, and ask, you all!

First of all, I’ve made another plan for 2025, not going back on the last one but just adding to it, here’s an article about it all (https://open.substack.com/pub/languagetransfer/p/language-transfer-now-based-in-the?r=ufgt0&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true)! But in short…I will continue recording courses myself instead of focusing entirely on The Platform to generate new material, and I’ve also made a call to action for Language Transfer users to help me break that glass ceiling which is stopping this project achieving all the more good it so easily could, if I didn’t find doors slammed in my face every time I try to contribute to the mainstream or extend the generous offer of this project to more formal arenas such as state education. Please check out the piece for more thoughts about all of that, and here’s some news that’s just for you guys… My next Intro course to be released will be Introduction to Japanese. I didn’t want to announce this to the bulk of the usership because I do want to minimise the pressure and enjoy more the creation, but you guys definitely deserve to know!

I’ve chosen Japanese for a recorded Intro course (and British Sign Language for workshops) because, as mentioned in the article, I will lean into what I can generate most easily, and these are two languages I began delving into 20 years ago, although they have both spent many years on hiatus. British Sign Language also demonstrates how the method can be applied beyond the typical spoken language context, and Japanese will be a very popular course to get this project more ‘out there’, which is everything Language Transfer has needed for a long time!

And finally, I’d love to hear from you about how you'd like me to use Patreon. I avoid posting here apart from big project updates because I don’t want to inundate you with fodder and email notifications… Does that represent your preferences? Or would you like me to use Patreon in a similar way to social media, posting everything here that I do elsewhere. Would be very interested to hear your preferences!

That’s all for now! Ah and as always, if you are due a perk (Interlinear ebook or physical dissemination pack sent to your address) please get in touch by shooting me a DM (with your full name and address if it’s for a physical pack!). If you're not sure what you're due, you can check your pledge description!

All the best and thank y’all again for all your indispensable support!

Mihalis
