Hi, everybody.
You have already seen the sketches for the Old Capital's harbor before, and Chestnut had even started coloring it and preparing buttons for it. Although we loved that design, we did realize that it needed to be changed once we added it to the game: the buttons and a lot of the important elements in it were too small, and that made the background a little less practical than others, both when it came to clicking the buttons and when we had to use it as a backdrop for sprite dialogues.
So, Chestnut decided to modify this design, adding new elements and simplifying the overall look and feel of it. I still have to animate it (the flag, the boats gently going up and down, perhaps, and maybe a seagull or two if Chestnut has the time to draw them), and it needs day/night variations, but you can see the final outcome.
Now we just have to find a new home for the cool mermaid statue of the original design.
