Farmboy And The Wolf Teaser - Dev Update
I'm excited to finally share my upcoming project, Farmboy And The Wolf. This cinematic visual novel will be story-rich, featuring heavy environmental storytelling. An "exploration" mechanic will give purpose to the objects placed in the world, allowing you to learn more about the main characters not only through dialogue, but also through the environment around them. To make the story more unique, I am creating certain 3D custom assets for sections of the game.
There are two main characters (names to be announced soon!): a farm boy (Farmboy) and a city boy (The Wolf). Tension escalates as their worlds collide, highlighting the stark contrasts in their lifestyles and personalities, which don't seamlessly align.
I want to give special thanks to Aaryn. Chances are, if you're reading this, it's because you first played the game Straight!?. Aaryn is the closest friend—and to me, a family member—that I have ever connected with in my life. Having the opportunity to befriend and work with him over the years has been a blessing, sometimes frustrating and completely life-changing.
I have only decided to move forward with my own project now because he has given me the confidence that my personal projects will not negatively affect him. I would never want to make a decision that would impact Aaryn or the development of Straight!?. I will continue to work with Aaryn on Straight!? and on anything else of his in the future that may require my assistance. With that said, I promise to see this project through to the end, as too many indie games are abandoned with unfinished stories.
Just a bit of background on me: before I met Aaryn and played Straight!?, I was in the early stages of creating my own story and visual novel (not Farmboy And The Wolf). I decided to pause and focus on Straight!? with Aaryn. Over the years, I have worked on several different projects, slowly improving my own set of skills, most importantly, learning ways to handle game development with care from Aaryn. This experience has given me a better understanding of the amount of time, work, and passion required for game development.
Software-wise, I work with the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects), Blender, and FL Studio (for music). I love creating art and making beautiful things. I hope that what I develop here will be something you can enjoy and connect with.
A demo will be releasing soon. I'm currently building the remaining assets needed for the demo. The demo will launch free for everyone to play. I will continue to update Patreon on the development.
Thank you for the love and support,
Jordyn
