I’m back with a housekeeping and update post!

Firstly, I’d like to welcome all of the newest patrons who have joined recently. Thank you all so much for joining the Patreon to help fund the Guild on their many adventures! This image will follow one of the comic posts going up in the next week:

BEHIND-THE-SCENES

June is my birthday month! Nothing super exciting to share about that point, but I want to wish all my fellow cancerous crabs a very merry birthday season.

This month has been a bit slower than usual, as I’m continuing work on the graphic novel script. I won’t lie, it has been far from smooth sailing. It’s been a big source of emotional turmoil because I’m struggling with a lot of doubt in my abilities and what I’m creating. I’m hoping to make some significant progress soon, which I think will help cheer me up. I’m trying to treat myself with grace in the meantime.

To help ease the financial strain from this month (car battery dying, unplanned emergency vet visit, writing progress delays) I’ve taken on some freelance inking work. It’s hard to be creative and productive when worrying about paying bills, and that becomes an issue when income is tied to being creative. This freelance work helps keep things afloat while I sort out all the other bits and bops I’ve got going on. It’s a change of pace that was needed in my work week, too!

It’s sometimes hard to share when I’m struggling or when I feel like I’m falling short of expectations. However, I want to be as transparent as possible with patrons, because you guys help keep the lights on at Doodle HQ and I want to share my process with you even when things are rocky.

I’m taking things one day at a time and reminding myself that everyone has cycles of highs and lows. It’s just part of life! I have faith that everything will turn out alright in the end.
