Hello there!! I know this is a bit of a smaller post than the goliath that is the HI09 Demo, but I wanted to talk here a bit more about the current plans for BSBVR, as well as showing off some experiments I've been doing with the medium.
To address the elephant of the room, the Quest version of the game is going to, at the very least, be heavily de-prioritized. For as accessible and generally widespread as Quest is, the downside is having to basically having to develop a game for mobile hardware. I may have gotten a bit spoiled while working on Shipwrecked and HI09, but returning to working with realism in Unreal has reminded me of just how difficult it is to make a game that not only looks good, but also runs well on Quest hardware. So, for now at least, the choice is being made to focus on making the graphics good. A quest port is possible in the future, but I would like to prioritize PCVR.
With that being said, though, one of the perks of PCVR is the high computing power that you lack on Mobile. So that means generally higher resolution models, more convoluted setpieces, and, of course, the ability to use PC's features. To my knowledge at least this may be the first VR game to ever really do fourth wall horror elements which I'm really excited about.
You can also use fun things, like shaders, dynamic lighting, etc! Generally it's something I'm excited about.
Aside from that, a video is attached with some cool visual features and shaders! I want this game to generally address a lot of problems I have with VR games, so I've been doing a lot of R&D in my spare time! The game is still very much in pre-production, with very few finalized assets, but I hope you enjoy what you're seeing anyways!
I'm really excited about this project. I know it's probably a lot less approachable than something like SW64 or HI09 but considering I've been sitting on studiogrounds info for a very long time now it's something i'm really excited to share with you guys :]
