Patreon Tutorial #50 - Desert Environment - Part 3
DESCRIPTION

Hey guys! In part 3 of our desert environment project, I will continue where I left off last month inside of Houdini. I will dive back into Gaea to make a couple of variations using the same procedural node recipe we built for the original terrain last month.

I will cover the zero borders adjustment node and how we can use this to our advantage when blending multiple heightfields allowing us to have smoother edge transitions. I will also show you how to quickly compress the large EXR files out of Gaea using a Photoshop action script I created using EXR-IO and DWAB compression. (Script attached below) Moving on after that I will begin to import some Megascans shader assets into our scene.

I will also go over importing/exporting ODTools asset browser settings from a previous Houdini ODTools install. I used OdTools extensively in Houdini 19.5 with the asset browser and with custom asset locations and settings, and these needed to be transferred over to Houdini 20. In part 4 we will be moving on to Substance Painter.

Thanks again for all the support on Patreon and have a wonderful day!
