TOMORROW
The Campaign Against Racism and Fascism invites all anti-fascist and anti-racist activists to a day forum on organising against the far-right.
This will be a practical and activism-based forum, where ideas and theories are discussed only in relation to their significance and impact on activist approaches to resistance.
Whether you’re an experienced activist or brand new, all are welcome to participate, come along to:
- hear from a range of CARF and other left-wing activist speakers on their experiences and approaches to challenging far-right groups and their ideas
- join in group discussions on these approaches and consider how we can build anti-fascist activism in Australia and globally into the future (or just listen—feel free to participate as little or as much as you want!)
Please register in advance to support organising of rooms etc. Sliding scale applies for entry fee to support access, including free entry where needed.
Registration opens tomorrow at 11am for an 11:30am start.

THE $20,000 'FAIR AUSTRALIA PRIZE' HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO AUGUST 19TH.
Stoked to be judging the 'Cartoon / Graphic' category again this year, alongside David Pope and Charlotte Allingham.
"In an era of increasing economic inequality and social alienation, community-building, collective political action and workers’ unions are more vital than ever.
How does money, time, and power alter our daily lives, limiting some while others rise to the ‘top’? In our work, our lives, and our communities, how should things be? How might we change our collective future?
The Fair Australia prize encourages artists and writers of fiction, poetry and essays to explore these questions. We want artists and writers to be part of setting a new agenda.
2019 theme: ‘Strike’.
(The theme needn't be taken super literally - it can be seen as a kinda launching place).
There are prizes in the following categories:
- fiction
- essay
- poetry
- cartoon or graphic
- best overall entry by a migrant writer, artist or worker
- best overall youth entry – 18 and under
- best overall youth entry – 19 to 30
- three best union member entries in any category (for NUW, MEAA and NTEU members)
