Upcoming chapters - behind the scenes

As you know, I'm back working on the main storyline! I'm doing this quick post to let you see what I'm preparing: Since I'm heading toward a new page style made of colors, I have been organizing my drawing software to fully accommodate my future workflow to help me make better pages faster. I like to have good backgrounds, but they are tedious and time-consuming to draw; and since I ditched the use of AI entirely when it comes to making art, I have to create some assets to help me build my background scenes, especially the vegetation. Yes, I have 3D assets, the architectural ones translate well into illustration when post-processed correctly, but with nature assets, it really looks too much 3D (and also, my software doesn't do transparency, which means the leaf textures come out with a black filling where there should be transparency). And this is not too bad because I have to conceptualize the plants that will be in the game, so I'm killing two birds with one stone doing that. I'm starting by the small elements, such as leaves, twigs, moss, mushrooms, etc; and work my way up to bigger elements: bushes, rocks, trees, roots, etc. For now I've done moss and leaves/flowers/fruits varieties. Took me a whole week, and that's roughly 500 little drawings in colors. It's a the same time exciting and extremely boring. Here's what I did:
In the plants atlas, I created 21 species and named them (just a trick to remember them) but really I will mix and match, tweak the colors and deform to create a whole bunch of different plants. I have front/back/side views, damaged and wilted variations. With all these small bits, I will create bigger composition that I'll be able to bash in my comics pages decors to make up the vegetation. In the next post, I'll show you a bunch of plants i'll have created!
Other news: Chapter 11.5 is now chapter 12. Also, I've corrected Lila's outfit in the pages (in the post attachments) but I want to redraw many things, I'm hesitating to redo the pages entirely. I'm also doing so re-writing to adapt the chapters to my latest additions in terms of word building (there has been a LOT!!!) as well as well as some details introduced in the growth diary.I'll be posting another update soon
