Sooo: end of the month and I wanted to check in with a status update.
Also, if you're not following me over on Bsky, that's the place to get the play-by-play if you're wondering where things are between massive DevLog posts.
So first up, I'm gonna start with a v16 release window. I'm hoping to have this out within the next 2 weeks. I'm at the tail end of things but there's still quite a bit to do so let's jump in and run through the list of what's done, what's left, and how much surprise work this one ended up being.
CGs (v16 breaks the all-time record!)
I finished up the last of the CGs on Thursday I think. I do have a couple pics that require a bit more work just because of clothing modifications that were being stubborn. But after like 4 hours per picture, I ended up just tossing them into my UnFuk folder and moved on, figuring I'd come back after I had everything else done. But overall, the CGs are finished. I was expecting to have some extra work this time given the clothing and haircut changes from v15 but after getting into this update, it was insane how many pictures it required. The previous CG record was held by the original version v20 at 711. Revamp v16 is clocking in at a staggering 731 with a couple pics left in my UnFuk folder. I went through my past update folders and it looks like the average image count per Revamp update has been around 300! I honestly had no idea that this update would be the one to break the old record, I was expecting v15 to be (and it still got really close) but the record has officially been broken and Revamp v16 will be the new king.
Current Status
So all the images are loaded in and all the initial bugs were squished the other day and v16 officially boots now and works (that's always exciting). I've made one quick pass through it to make sure all the pics are loading and I started the initial writing read through yesterday. It normally takes me a few days to get through each update the first time.
What's Left?
So while the CGs are done, I'm sure there will be some mistakes in there somewhere that I'll have to correct and re-render. Once I've made a couple passes through the game, then i'll send that heavy folder over to Jordyn so he can do his Photoshop fixes and stuff. The good news is that I can keep working on other things while he's going through that stack. I still have music and sound effects to do and that normally takes a couple days to either code in, decide what tracks to use, or find new tracks/sounds to add. After that, it's just re-reading and editing. Because of how chaotic my head can get sometimes, I normally do at least a dozen reads before launch. I also normally take a one day break before the last couple of reads just to reset and get fresh eyes on it. I also still have an animation to render but that can easily happen over a few days while I'm working on other things. Aaaand I think we have 2 text message animations to do (that's all Jordyn).
So that should be it. At the tail end finally and I'm ready to finish this one up and take a day off.
Short message today 'cause I got work to do.
Luv you guys and thanks as always <3
