Straight!? v 18.2 Release!!
holy friggen crap, it's finally here.
god this one was tough. I've said it a few times already but i'm seriously glad that I isolated this part of the story with it's own update. It really did allow me to focus on what I truly wanted to do for the story and really turn the volume up on everything we saw in the original. and yes, everything from the original has been turned up so brace yourself if you know what's coming.
this is also the first update I've done 100% solo in years so, as i've stated in previous posts, any errors, bugs, or degradation in editing quality all falls on me and I'll ask patience with me learning these new skills as we move forward. but also, i'm open to corrections because that's how i learn so lemme know if you see problems. i learned a lot with sound editing during this update (and i need to learn much more) so i do plan to take time in the future to go back through the entire game and touch up the audio and sound editing more tightly but i'm not sure when i'll actually get to that.
Note: There's now a photosensitive warning on the boot screen. this setting does NOT apply to old saves and if you have visual sensitivities, i highly recommend disabling the flashing for v18. this setting also works for people that want a slightly less intense experience of v18 (or any future nonsense i come up with). For now, though, this setting will only affect one scene in the game.
Android: Coming Soon...
There's also only two download locations this time. this is because the project has gotten so big, it's a problem to host. I recently made a post about this and i've already started work on this and will do another post specifically addressing it for the very near future. just bear with me, i'm only one person and the priority around here has always been the characters and story.
I also mentioned in the previous post that the visuals in this update are using a new file format so let me know if you have any concerns with it. the new format changes right when zack wakes up at the beginning of v18. In a future post, i plan to release all the old version of the files, too, allowing the community to side-by-side compare the visual differences. the proposed goal here is to change the file format for the entire game, with minimal, if any, degradation in quality and possibly cut the size of the project in half.
anyway, thank you. I know many of you encourage me to "take my time" and I historically don't and instead choose to take your time seriously. but regardless, this one took way longer than i wanted. but, i think the quality of this update is far beyond what i intended to make it so i stand by it. i know it's been a long time but i've learned a lot and i made the thing i wanted to make so thank you for sticking with me on this.
I'll say it one more time... this one is... a lot.
