“Oh yeah~ That hits the spot! Heh, and I thought you just wanted an excuse to touch me again. I didn’t expect you to really have the ability to heal.”
Mirko moaned. She was sitting on top of a fallen log, Hiro right next to her. His palm gently caressed her left arm, and wherever it passed, all the bruises disappeared.
“Don’t get reckless just because you have a personal healer now. I can still only heal minor injuries.”
“Who do you think I am? I am the Rabbit Hero Mirko! If it weren’t for a little monster like you, I would have continued my streak of being uninjured for two months.”
Mirko said as she flexed her biceps- the one Hiro already healed.
Hiro chuckled and continued his work. This was the first time he tried his ability to modify another person’s body. Although he was confident, he didn’t want to risk anything wrong happening with his friends and family, which is why he initially stuck to using his Quirk for diagnosis.
He practiced modifying rats and insects over the past week. Seeing nothing wrong with them, he decided to test it on Mirko. Of course, he only dared to treat her bruises and cuts. This way, even if the miniscule possibility of her body developing an abnormal reaction happened, it would be easily reversible
However, the feeling of leaving some things to chance still nagged him. He really needed an experimental subject right now. He could only hope they meet an unhinged villain in their following patrols.
After treating her arms, he began to treat her legs. He made sure his every touch elicited a sense of pleasure- to further progress his other plan to lewd the bunny.
Mirko exhaled contentedly as Hiro’s hands went up and down her legs. After he was done, she stood and stretched with a wide grin.
“Alright. That’s enough! Next, I’ll lay down the ground rules before we begin your internship.”
She said, her index finger pointed up.
“First, when I fight, you just watch and learn. Unless we encounter multiple villains, then you can take care of the small fries. Second, we’ll have battle training everyday. And third…well, I’ll tell you when I think of it. Just remember those two points first.”
Hiro resisted the urge to complain and nodded. This rabbit is really willful.
After getting his affirmation, the two of them headed out of the forest. They leapt side-by-side among the branches, the rising sun shining on their figures.
—
Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
It is the largest city in the country, serving as the nation's political, economic, and cultural hub with over 14 million residents.
High-rise buildings were everywhere. The street was full of traffic as office workers went on their way to work, and students to their schools.
Shopkeepers greeted the customers with a smile. Young children bade goodbye to their parents as they skipped along to play with their friends.
However, the brighter the light, the darker the shadows. In a city with such a prosperous front, it was only expected that the number of villains residing within is similarly higher.
“Thief! Help!”
An old lady screamed as her purse was snatched. She supported herself on her cane, almost falling to the ground.
“Ma’am, are you alright?”
A warm voice suddenly reached the old lady’s ears. At the same time, a hand fell on her shoulders, supporting her aging body.
She turned and found a white haired young man in a black, skintight, long-sleeved shirt, white martial arts trousers, and black martial arts shoes had appeared next to her at some point.
His gentle smile inexplicably calmed her down. However, when she remembered her bag, her face showed worry once again.
“Young man, please help me call the police. M-my granddaughter is in the hospital right now. I just withdrew money from the bank to get her home. I-if that is stolen away, oh my poor baby!”
”Ma’am, please calm down. That thief won’t be getting away.”
The young man said in a soothing voice. However, he narrowed his eyes as he stared at the figure running in the distance.
The thief was quite fast. He was already at the end of the street, shoving people as he ran while headed towards a dark alleyway- his planned getaway route.
But just as he was about to slip into the alley, a shadow appeared over his head. Pain struck his shoulders and his face met concrete.
“Rabbit Hero Mirko here to deliver justice!”
Mirko stepped over the downed thief. She took the purse from his limp hand, and accurately threw it over to Hiro.
Hiro inwardly cursed her recklessness as he caught the thrown bag- as softly as possible to make sure nothing fragile inside would be broken.
The two of them were coming back from the forest when they heard the scream. Mirko hadn’t wasted any time. With a feral grin, she went after the thief while he went to help the old lady.
“Here’s your purse, ma’am. Don’t worry about thanking Mirko, I’ll do it on your behalf. Now go reunite with your granddaughter- I can see you’re already anxious to see her.”
Hiro said with a gentle smile. He calmly accepted the old lady’s tearful thanks, and walked back to Mirko’s side after he confirmed the old lady didn’t suffer any injuries.
“I know you! You’re the winner of the Sports Festival!”
A woman suddenly shouted. Her words attracted the attention of the others who were gazing in awe at Mirko. Recognition dawned upon them as they looked at him in his hero costume.
“That’s right. I am Genesis, current intern of the Rabbit Hero Mirko. It's a pleasure to make everyone’s acquaintance."
Hiro said to the crowd. Mirko, holding the thief’s collar with one hand, proudly lifted her chin and patted Hiro’s shoulder.
“Genesis and I are on patrol, so no pictures or autographs allowed. Have any of you called the police?”
Seeing everyone shake their heads, Mirko inwardly clicked her tongue. She handed over the thief to Hiro while she dialed the authorities herself.
After a while, the crowd slowly dispersed, though some remained with their phones out. Disturbing heroes while they are out on patrol is illegal- though that law is rarely enforced. After all, it is bad publicity for the heroes themselves if they report a fan. Some heroes even disregard it altogether and still interact with others while on patrol.
But in general, most knew to respect this rule and gave Hiro and Mirko their space. He appreciated this, as it gave him time to study the thief in his arms.
He was still unconscious from Mirko’s blow. But from his diagnosis, the thief only sustained a lump on his shoulder (from Mirko’s kick) and forehead (from his head slamming into the ground).
Hiro already felt it earlier during their battle, but Mirko is very proficient in controlling her strength. A dropkick from up in the air like that and she didn’t even break a bone.
Shelving these thoughts for later, he created zip ties from his palms, which he pretended he took out from his pocket, and tied the thief’s hand. Then, he began.
From the hand holding the thief’s collar, a small tendril of flesh emerged. It slithered across the thief’s body and covered everything under their clothes. While it wasn’t as comprehensive as what he did to Momo and Mina, it was barely enough.
With a jolt, the thief woke up.
“Ugh! Wha-what happened?”
The thief said, his tone groggy and his eyes hazy.
“Excuse me, can I please have your name?”
“Huh? Nobody asked me that for a long time. D-Daisuke Rintaro. T-that’s my name.”
Hiro checked the thief- Daisuke Rintaro’s- heartbeat and confirmed he wasn’t lying. Well, he already knew that, but a confirmation didn’t hurt,
Right now, he has impaired Daisuke’s cognitive functions by slowing down the transfer of information from his brain to the rest of his body. It was a similar state to being heavily drunk.
Unless Daisuke has immense willpower or the questions trigger an intense emotion from him, his brain would not thoroughly process it and just answer the first thing that comes to mind.
At least that’s how the theory goes. This was Hiro’s first time trying it. But judging by the result, it appears to be working as intended.
Next, Hiro continued to ask basic questions like his age, address, motives for the crime, other crimes he committed, etc. Aside from when he asked for his other crimes, to which there was a brief hesitation before answering, the process went relatively smoothly.
Of course, he didn’t forget to ask the thief’s Quirk. But after learning he could just pluck his eyeballs out without harm, Hiro lost interest in studying his Quirk Factor.
Mirko had returned at some point and expressed curiosity about the thief’s muddled state. When he told her it was an application of his Quirk, she watched for a while before walking away in boredom.
The police arrived shortly after. And when they were taking Daisuke away, Hiro gave them the notes on Daisuke’s basic information as well as the other crimes he confessed to. It may not be valid as evidence, but it was a clear direction for investigation.
Hiro had no plans to hide his ability to interrogate people. In fact, he even had no qualms letting other people know he can permanently copy Quirks.
His strength, along with his ability to travel the multiverse and biological immortality, gave him the confidence to face any danger. He just needed to hide the process of how he does so to protect his image, as he was very clear it looked quite…villainous.
After accepting the gratitude from the two police officers, he and Mirko continued their patrol. As they walked along the street, Hiro hoped once more that they would meet a more heinous villain.
