Hey everyone! I painted some more water nymphs over the past few weeks, it's been fun. And it's a pose I've enjoyed painting too. π These group scenes always end up being kind of a jigsaw puzzle to put together, but I think it came together pretty well. Out of my recent pieces this one's probably the one I've been happiest with. I hope you like it too!
I noticed there's no longer a 200 MB file size limit on attachments here, so I can finally add all the rewards in the attachments! But here are the usual download links for the rewards too. I hope you'll enjoy checking out the process:WIP imagesShort time lapse videoLong time lapse videoPSD filesBonus sketch video
You'll notice the sketches look different from how I've typically done them. Often when I sit down to draw sketches I start focusing almost right away on how to do a good composition rather than focusing on just drawing something that looks hot. So, instead of doing thumbnail sketches of full compositions, I drew a whole bunch of small detail shots of things I thought could be hot. Then, after I'd done a bunch of those, I looked for ones I could build an idea around, which led to the painting I did. I feel like that approach to sketching gave results that did a good job of inspiring me, so I might continue that experiment for a while longer!
I also spend a little bit of extra time this time around trying to push for sharper detailing on the final result as opposed to keeping things more painterly, and right now I feel like I prefer this result better. That extra bit of time is probably time well spent.
Thanks for supporting me through November, I look forward to painting some more stuff for you this month! I hope you'll all have an excellent December. π
