Happy new year, everyone. I hope you all had wonderful holidays! I spent mine catching the flu and being sicker than I've been in probably 20 years lol, hence the slightly late post here. 😅 But other than that I had a lovely time, so I can't complain.
We're starting off the year here with a few drawings of my friend's character, Haifang. Some of you might recognize her from past pictures I've done. Or maybe you don't, I feel like I keep drawing her a bit different every time, and probably never exactly how my friend imagines her lol. Sorry, Jess. 😬

Also did another few character drawings here with a simpler style I sometimes use. And, honestly, I really enjoy the results when I don't try so hard to render everything really nicely and can leave some of those contour lines in there. When I don't worry so much about how neatly I draw things I feel like I've got more mental bandwidth to instead focus on what to draw, which can probably lead to more interesting drawings. I'd like to do more stuff in this style.
Those of you who draw (or do other creative work), how do you feel about your own work where you spend a lot of effort versus your work where you keep things simpler? Which results do you feel best about when you look back at it? Which did you have most fun doing? I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
