The opponents of marriage equality have always said something like, "for all of history, marriage has always been between one man and one woman." Oh, but has it? I'm working on a video about the history of how gay couples have been depicted in movies & TV, and so I've gathered a lot of research about the various ways that same-sex couples have entered into marriage ... or something like marriage ... over the centuries, with methods that are surprisingly inventive.
