Maybe you've seen Our Flag Means Death, a show set in the 1600s that imagines a very very queer cast of characters on board a pirate ship. I mentioned the show in a bonus video a few weeks ago, and how some aspects are based in a bit of historical fact. There almost certainly were gay pirates! But I wanted to dive a little deeper and ask ... who were they? What were they doing? Did they actually have marriages, as so many folks seem to think? And I did not find what I was expected.
Also! A quick update on the video I'm working on right now: I was hoping to have it out by the end of April, since I'll be traveling for all of May. But it still needs some work, so I'm planning to have it out as soon as I can once I'm back in June.
And speaking of travel... here are the talks I'm doing next month!

May 7: Vienna
May 10: Utrecht
May 17: Heidelberg
