Babscon and a plea for help...
DESCRIPTION

So a lot happened this weekend.  I went to Babscon this weekend.  It wasn't so much for the con as it was to see friends again.  I was able to stay with a friend so we drove in every day 90m to the con.  A little cheaper than a room.  I was able to see Heartshine, Lillowisp, Captainhoers, Brainiac and her BFF nick, El Dee, and some others.  I made it to a few panels, some which were pretty good and informative and others that weren't as much.  It felt a lot like a first time Con.  Not quite the numbers as years before.  Hope it did well though.

Sunday, we skipped the con and went around San Fransisco with some friends.  We went to the coast, tourned the Japanese Tea Gardens, and went to Land's End and saw a few other sights.  There's ww2 bunkers there that look like stuff straight out of Fallout Equestria.  Very cool.  We then went and got dinner at an afghani place with food to die for...

Then in the middle of dinner I got the message my dog, Panda Bear, was barely breathing and hadn't eaten her food.  Now she's not a young dog, but I was 300 miles away and she was in distress.  I don't have a partner or kids.  I have a shih tzu that I love so much.  So I then tried going though the rest of the night, including desert with friends, trying hard not to ruin things for everyone else who just want to enjoy their last night together.

Needless to say, I wasn't in a good place, and this morning it only got worse.  Mom got her to the vet right away, and the diagnosis was congestive heart failure.  So not what I wanted to hear.  I was still 150 miles from her, and needless to say I was a basket case for most of the ride up.

I didn't want to die with her not hearing me say she's a good girl.  That she's the best dog ever.  I mean I'm biased, but she's been a part of my life almost as long as MLP.  Losing her without saying that was unbearable.  Fortunately, when I got the the vet, he had good news.  Her breathing was better and while she was stressed, he was optimistic she might last a few weeks or months longer.  Wonderful news.

Unfortunately, it also came with a vet bill.  My family was willing to help pay some, but I was already stretching things going to Babscon.  If I'd known, I probably wouldn't have gone.  I'm not sure what the final amount is going to be, but it's already almost a grand and will probably be more.  So if folks want to help me with her bills, it'd be hugely appreciated.  You can donate directly via paypal to [email protected].  Thanks so much.  I'll try hard to get Galling Tendency and Homelands 27 out ASAP.
