Mid-July Update: August Release Sneak Peek, Future OPR Stuff, & General Updates

Hey all, Velwyn here! Here to give you all your mid(ish) month update of what's to come.

🩵 August Release

We've been making good progress on August's release!

Out of the finished models, we have a part-goblin, part-dwarf lady (character owned by plaxer/designed by bleatsy), a human arcane fighter lady, and a slightly unsettling elf warrior.

For our work-in-progress, we have a dragon mage (character by needhealing @ bluesky) and your generic elf ranger guy.

What we have planned/left-to-do:

🎨 Painting Contest

🗓️ Patreon Sub Changes

We have a more in-depth post [here]. But to summarize, Patreon will be changing its subscription model from 1st of the month to charging you monthly on the day you subbed (i.e, 7th of month). The linked post explains how that'll impact this patreon & you and is worth the read!

⚔️ More Wargame/OPR?

We have vaguely hinted at it before, but we have some plans on dipping our toes in OPR/wargaming stuff a little more. That doesn't mean we're going to release full armies every month - we don't have the bandwidth for that - but it does mean that there might be more an increase in minis in our monthly release in the future.

Still trying to figure out what is realistic for us at this point. Don't want this to impact our normal release, so basically there would be the standard 7 minis, and then a couple of wargaming minis (whether that's 1-2 hero units or a troop of similar minis posed in different ways). At this point, the idea is that there would be a certain theme, and over the course of a few months, you would get the minis (& stat blocks) piecemeal. Then say, after 3-6 months, you should have a decent sized set that are thematically similar, and we'd move on to the next warband/army.

We're still trying to figure out if we have separate tiers for this or what have you...basically, still kind of in the early stages. 😊 I'll probably put together a survey when we're further along in the figuring-it-all-out process for our members.

That being said, I did want to mention that I've been brainstorming what the first theme would be, and I was thinking centaurs/satyrs/firbolgs druidic warriors. (In the future, we'll let our members get some influence on picking the next theme!) I've done some concept art sketches. I've already shown these in the discord but for those who might have missed them:

So yeah! More than likely, this isn't an August thing, and probably not a September thing...but something before hopefully the end of this year. That being said, for those wargaming enthusiasts, feel free to reach out to me (preferably DM or @ Velwyn on our discord) if you want to lend your expertise on making statblocks etc because that's where our biggest hang-up/blocker will probably be. 😅
