It's been about a year since this patreon launched, and the channel has been growing steadily since then. I started last year with 200 subscribers, and with your help we're now at 47,700. It's been a blast making stuff for the channel, but there's also loads of pitching stuff that goes on behind the scenes which I don't really get to talk about.TV PitchesAside from youtube, a large portion of my time goes towards pitching to TV networks, which basically all ends up being confidential. This stuff always takes a lot of waiting, but what I've found is that the opportunities never stop coming, which means I'll probably continue pitching indefinitely. Between finding producers, contacting networks, writing agreements, making pitch decks, and finally pitching the shows, your pledges have been absolutely crucial in allowing me the time I need for all this. Along with some big industry producers, I pitched 8 times in the past year, to a range of networks, using a couple different projects including Day Job, and 4 of those pitches are still ongoing. Animation PlusIt was June last year when I announced talks with Animation Plus for a Day Job series, but as you may have realised by now, the channel hasn't launched any new shows yet. So Day Job is now back with me, and they're instead sitting with the rights to a different concept I've given them called "Probe Squad"; a show about paranormal investigators. That said though, we don't have Animation Plus in Australia, so I still don't know much about the network. If you watch it, let me know what you think of the channel.Visual DevelopmentAs an aside, when Day Job was about to begin on Animation Plus, I used patreon funds to bring Apple_Toast over to carry out the show's visual development on-location in Australia. This was TV-scale visual development for the series, and included loads of character redesigns, animation tests and environment studies. We have fortunately retained all that stuff, and we'll be making use of it in the youtube episodes.YoutubeWe've now recorded a 2nd draft for episode 4, and I'll post a draft animatic of the episode on patreon soon.I also have two new Day Job shorts in the pipe, but it's a balancing act between them and the episode. I'm also pushing to increase the animation quality, so you'll be seeing more of that vis-dev stuff put to use next month.Discount TheatreGood news, Discount Theatre will make a return this year. I can't quite say when, as there's a lot to juggle already, but we've recorded some new episodes and I'm excited for everyone to see them. I want to mix up our approach to the show and keep it fresh. So along with that and the new visual development, this will be Discount Theatre Season 2.In SummaryThis update only scratches the surface of the tumultuous year I've had. Maybe I can expound more in future, but I wanted to at least give a glimpse of what goes on every day. After all the production houses and networks it's been through, I'm lucky the rights to Day Job still belong to me. Your FeedbackI'm still blown away by the continued support this page is receiving, and I'm so happy with what we've achieved. In a year, we've had 7 new sketches, 10 reels, 7 discount theatre episodes, 4 comics and 11 sets of stickers. Before patreon, I was lucky to make 1 sketch a year. I'm putting my all into Day Job, and I want to make every pledge count. So if there's anything you'd like to see done differently, tell me about it in the comments. And if not, then let me know what you look forward to the most every month, out of this huge list of things you've made possible.
