While fighting a powerful demon, Fern and Frieren are caught by a binding spell. As the spell tightens, Fern notices the world around her slowly turning into an illusion. Frieren quickly understands the nature of the magic and tells Fern that she must accept the illusion instead of rejecting it. Right after saying that, Frieren successfully breaks free, leaving Fern alone inside the false world.
強大な魔族との戦いの最中、フェルンとフリーレンは拘束魔法に囚われてしまう。魔法が強まるにつれ、フェルンは周囲の景色が少しずつ幻影へと変わっていくことに気づく。フリーレンはすぐにその魔法の本質を見抜き、幻影を拒むのではなく受け入れる必要があると告げる。その直後、フリーレンは幻影から抜け出し、残されたフェルンは一人、偽りの世界に取り残されてしまう。
