As you may have noticed, the Moon Pi kickstarter was funded twice over. Thanks to everyone who backed it! I've put the spare money away so we can afford a second launch if this one fails (and if not needed we'll use the funding on some other ridiculous project in the future).
As advertised: all Patreon supporters will get a complimentary Flight Support Crew spot.
You may have received an email with details about this. Or if you head over to https://pi.space/ and enter your patreon email address and you will be emailed a login link (invalidating any previous login links).
For Patreons who also backed the Kickstarter, you will see we have added one extra Flight Support Crew spot to your account.
Once logged in to pi.space you can:
- edit the name(s) you want sent to the Moon
- choose which of your names are Mathstronauts (physical certificate) or Flight Support Crew (digital certificate) if you have both types
- for each name: change the email address you want notifications to go to
- select if you want the name to be shown publicly or not
By default we have put your Patreon name in this extra Flight Support Crew spot, so if you do nothing it will fail safe. Burt you can also change it to be anything you want.
Well, almost anything you want! Max length is 50 characters. And it turns out a lunar rover has less character support than patreon. Officially we can only use ASCII characters but we have a work around for all UTF-8 characters. This means that any non-ASCII character counts as four of your letter spaces (the actual limit is 50 bytes and we need to assume all non-ASCII characters are four bytes).
Should you wish to delete or not use a name, just edit it to be blank and we'll regularly prune all the null names. For any spots which go unused, don't worry: we'll use them for the school students who got involved.
We'd love to get all names locked-off by Friday (October 10). After which we will send you an email to confirm we definitely have your name right.
And due to popular demand, we are still allowing people to buy mission patches on https://pi.space/ If you log in with your patreon email address, you can choose to buy some but you will need to add in a postal address (we have not imported any address details from Patreon to pi.space, only names and emails). The mission patch upgrade will continue working after the 10 October name deadline, but we will need to turn it off eventually.
