This video is in response to rumors (on sonyalpharumors.com) about a new Macro prime lens from Sony. I have no idea if there is any truth in these rumors, as I currently have no knowledge about any future lenses being developed by Sony (as of 11th July 2025). I do, however, think this is an opportunity to discuss my own personal needs for owning a lens that is capable of photographing small subjects and also function as a portrait prime. I would very much like to see an E-Mount half-macro fast-focusing portrait prime that is smaller than the current 90mm F2.8 Macro lenses (that are probably twice the size and twice the magnification ratio that I need for my own line of work). In the event that Sony's next Macro lens has a 1:1 or 1.0x Magnification ratio, I have decided to make some recommendations for lenses that are currently available and that already have great close-focusing capability.
