The October 2025 update includes the new Sony Macro GM lens and Sony Bluetooth Remote and Bluetooth Grip.
The previous 2025 update includes information relating to the FE 16mm F1.8 G, FE 400-800 F6.3-8 G OSS, FE 28-70 F2 GM and FE 50-150 F2 GM lenses. This version also includes information about the 'Focus Frame Display' feature and expanded AF-Tracking and Subject Recognition sections.
The previous 2024 update of the eBook had minor modifications in line with the Firmware version 2.0 update, e.g., maximum of 1/80000 seconds in all drive modes. It also includes information relating to the Sony lenses released in the first eight months of 2024 (FE 24-50 F2.8 G, FE 16-25 F2.8 G & FE 85mm F1.4 GM II).

The A9III is a highly specialised sports/action camera for capturing rapidly moving subjects. Most Pro photographers capturing sports/action would be better served by purchasing an A1 camera to meet their imaging needs, while videographers would be better served by purchasing an A7SIII or FX3 camera. This is primarily because the cameras that use more conventional CMOS sensors have slightly better high ISO performance and dynamic range.

The testing is a little 'video/movie centric', so my own 'on-location/real-world' testing (making photographs rather than looking at graphs) is there is a small drop in high ISO and Dynamic range performance, but probably not enough to worry most sports photographers and videographers. After applying Denoise to a Raw file I still think ISO 20,000 is perfectly usable: https://flic.kr/p/2prz4LX
The global shutter sensor of the A9III has zero rolling shutter making it ideal to capture 'explosive' action. Most fast moving subjects can be captured, with minimal rolling shutter, using the higher resolution stacked sensor found in the A1.
The A9III comes into its own, only when shooting action that is faster than humans can move in the vast majority of athletic sports. It is therefore most applicable to sports that involve striking a ball or firing a projectile. The zero rolling shutter may also be useful for filming rapidly moving subjects and for flash photographers who also need to capture rapidly moving subjects without using HSS mode (High Speed Sync).
Note 1 > This 530-page A9III eBook is a little shorter than the other eBooks I have created for the more conventional cameras. I have sought to cover the areas that are of most difference and leave some of the more basic stuff out of this eBook.
Note 2 > I personally shoot a very broad range of subjects (and can provide in-depth guidance on the Premium Plus Q&A forum), but I rarely need to shoot with a camera that has the capabilities of the A9III. Personal Guidance may, therefore, be limited on Premium Plus forum for this particular camera. I will continue to use an A1 and some of the smaller, and more compact, Alpha cameras for my own personal work.
