I'm programming these pages ahead. by the time you're reading them I'll be in Catania if everything went well with my flights (did I already say how much I'm afraid of airplanes?).
Ayumu is traumatized since he saw Demian and Izumi kissing. If you wonder why, it's because he feels his ex-girlfriend was "lied" to, that the men she claimed were her type are not "real men" (because they're gay, that's the way he thinks). He already hated models for being the reason his girlfriend broke up with him (or at least that's the reason she gave him), now he hates them even more because, in his head, they manipulated her to dump him with lies.
There was a lot of thought put behind Ayumu's arc, actually. Over the years, I've seen guys hate on fictional or non-fictional guys who were appealing to a female audience. Usually, the guys who did that did not try at all to be appealing to women, they just wanted to be liked without effort. To guys like that, that women are given something more complex to desire is a problem, because it makes them "not good enough", so they mock the "desirable" men as "gay", or "not real", etc. Ayumu was designed as that kind of person. The fact he always wears the same type of clothes is not me being lazy over his design (laughs). He's just the kind of person who doesn't try, who doesn't want to try, so it bothers him when other guys do.
I need to clarify that I don't think all guys are this way, I'm talking about a specific type of guy. I also don't think it's wrong to want to be liked the way you are without having to make any efforts, but you can't force people to like you or hate on people who do want to make the effort. Be yourself and let others be themselves and have their own tastes and expectations. Instead of obsessing over a girl who clearly wanted something else, Ayumu should have gone to find a girl who wanted what he was willing to offer.
And last but not least, Ayumu doesn't actually hate Izumi for being gay, the one he hates is Demian. A horrible man told me once "I love gay men. The more there are, the more women for me. The one thing I can't stand is lesbians because they don't need men" ( ' - ' ; Ayumu is not exactly like that, but he is the kind of person who is ok with gay men because they're not a threat in regards to the women he likes (even though he IS homophobic the moment he thinks gay means less manly). Izumi is gay, but not a threat = no problem with him. But Demian is gay AND a threat... so he hates him.
That was such a long wall of text (laughs). Sorry! I like sharing the thought behind the stories I create because it's not something I will explain in the comic, but it's the foundation upon which the story is built.
