HOW WE FEELING BOIS AND GIRLS??
I wanted to write a sort of mini-devlog along with this since my last few posts have been all about progress. It goes without saying, but the process for Ch6 has run very smoothly. We had a couple of personal setbacks but were able to make up for lost time... and I think our behind-the-scenes development process has finally been nailed down to near perfection.
As you probably already saw, the release date for Ch6 was announced and it's literally days away. This all bodes well for the future of Radiant... our supporters can be confident that they'll see regular updates: a minimum of three full chapters per year.
Furthermore... my health issues seem to have mostly been resolved and I'm feeling more confident about things here than I have in a while. Working through Ch6, the regular communication, letting you guys track exactly where we're at with development... it feels good to finally achieve that and do it right – no half-assing. Getting into game development, I frankly had no idea how difficult it could be: a single scene can take weeks, big setbacks can easily happen, morale can sometimes be low and there's a never-ending battle with things like a lack of creativity or the dreaded "burnout."
So many promising developers make a name for themselves in the industry, only to abruptly announce they're taking a break or outright disappear. The last few years of experience I've gotten thanks to both Polarity and Radiant has helped me to understand why – but I am fortunate enough to possess a simple strength which helps me to combat these things: passion. I love these games. Not just making them but playing them as well... and it's largely thanks to the love and passion that I have for for both the industry and our players that helps me continue to push forward and strive to get better, to find my way around the difficulties that every developer faces and be a better person because of it.
So thank you guys for the loyalty and support. It goes without saying but we literally could not do it without you. You guys are the very reason games like Radiant can exist.
Speaking of Radiant... things really start to pick up here. Chapters 1-5 in the grand scheme contains a lot of setup. Setup and buildup are of course very important: without it we couldn't have so much beautiful payoff. You'll notice a significant increase in the game's pacing and the "action" we see in each chapter moving forward starting with Chapter 6. If you guys thought the MC saw a lot of action and intimacy already... brace yourselves.
Love you guys, Enjoy the wallpapers,
SirD.
