I know I haven't posted in about 6 weeks & wanted to let you all know why.
On 10-17, I went to the Emergency Room, as I had a fever of more than 100.4. With Chemo, if you have a fever in that range, you're supposed to go to the ER.
When I got there, I tested positive for Covid. I was put in a room & was there a week or so. Then, we get to what I don't remember. I recall telling my mom that "A week from today is election day." After that, I vaguely remember someone asking who could make decisions for me. I know I clearly told them my mom.
After that, I found myself in this nightmarish hellscape. I wasn't even sure who I was. And when I opened my eyes, there were the faces right above me, screaming at me. I had a tube down my throat & felt like I was dying. After 3 days, there was finally one nurse that got through to me. She kept saying, "Breath IN through your nose, breath OUT through your mouth." When that finally got through to me & when I tried it, I realized I wasn't going to die from this thing down my throat. It was still several days of the most horrific hallucinations you can imagine. It is beyond my understanding why anyone would ever VOLUNTARILY take such a thing.
Also, when I did open my eyes and see the ICU room, halls, etc., they looked hyper-real to me, like a CGI film. Even when I was awake, I didn't believe this was reality. Finally, my wife, mom, & daughter contacted me on an iPad. That's when I finally believed that was real.
Since then, they've removed the tube and transferred me to a rehab facility. I've lost 35 lbs and my weakness is mostly in my legs. My arms, of course, have had over 50 years of artistic workout, so they're good.
