Ecto Goggle Straps and Padding Notes
DESCRIPTION

I've had a few questions on how I finished off my Ecto Goggles with straps and padding so I thought I'd put together a few notes on this subject...

The Head Strap

This is a pretty conventional assembly of 1" elastic and 1" webbing with adjustors. Your dimensions may vary depending on how you need to size it for your head. Here you can see my approach to putting it all together.

The buttons should clip right to the mask...

 The Face Pad

As noted in my original post, I used an HTV Vive replacement pad which is almost the perfect size. (I folded in the side corners a bit for a better fit to the goggles shell). I also made my padding detachable using buttons. This was accomplished by cutting into the back face of the padding and clipping in some snaps.

(Note: if you plan on doing a lot of button/snap work, you might want to invest in a tool like this. It made assembling snaps way easier and I've used it for other projects - including clothing repair)

Here you can see how I cut some slits into the back of the padding. My replacement pads have a very thin layer of fabric and plastic. I cut some slits and then attached the buttons.
