John was having grand old time! His mother brought him to a nice, open field that had many other children and their mothers. His mother also brought along many of his siblings and the two new siblings he now had from the past 2 years. Mama was already showing a bit of a belly from his newest yet-to-be-born sibling! As a healthy 3-year-old, this was the life.
His favorite big sister, a 6-year-old named Samantha, was currently talking to someone else other than him! She usually played around with him and spent most of her time with him. Whenever Ma or Pa weren't around, Samantha usually was. Ma and Pa had an average of 18 children living in the house all at once for most of their lives, so they could separate their attentions to everyone equally. Samantha decided to step in for talking to John and playing with John the most out of his bigger siblings. Usually, the teenagers took care of the younger siblings, and they told John that he would be doing the same thing when he was their age!
How exciting! He couldn't wait to be like his teenager siblings.
... For now, though, he just wanted to talk to his sister, who was talking to some boy he's never seen before!
"Sammy! Sammy! ... Sammy! Sammy!" He called out to her from where he was, sitting in Ma's lap. Ma just bounced him a little and shushed him, speaking that tone she's always used with him and his younger siblings. "Shhh. Quiet, Joey. Let Sammy speak with him. She needs new friends, anyways."
Ma turned to the person she was speaking to before she quieted John. "I'm sorry about that, Shaniqua, where did you say y'all were from?" She asked the lady sitting on the same bench as her. Shaniqua was a black lady, with dreads hanging from her head down to the middle of her back. She looked to be around the same age as Mama Sarah Smith, but Shaniqua, too, was a cultivator. This meant that she could be 182 years, like Sarah, or she could be 300 or even 400 years old without anyone knowing.
I bet all the females reading this are jealous, huh?
Anyways, Shaniqua just laughed a little, bouncing her own three-year-old on her knee. He was sucking his thumb while looking like he was about to fall asleep any minute. Shaniqua said, "No, no, it's fine. My own Terry needed a friend, too. If your Samantha is anything like you, he's picked quite the interesting friend." She had a coquettish smile as she said the next part. "I've certainly never met someone whose had almost 200 kids before."
Mama Sarah scoffed, "Please, pretty much every small town has a family like us. Where did you say you were from? Chicago? If you drove here, you probably drove past over 100 families whose parents had 200 kids by the time they were 400 years old." She smiled and perked her head up, "Of course, my family is the best at this. I'm going to try and break 1000 kids in my lifetime."
Shaniqua whistled, "Wow. It's 19903 right now, sooo... You'll be having kids till mid 20000?!" She said that last part in awe. "Geeze. What kind of uterus and womb did God bless you with?" Mama Sarah gave a cheeky smile, "Hehehe, I based my entire Sanctification off of God's command. 'Be fruitful and multiply!'" Shaniqua blinked, before shaking her head in bemusement.
"Heh, living near you is certainly going to be an experience for me and my family." Her face turned fond, "Especially once my husband comes back from his deployment." Mama Sarah asked, "He's in the military? Which bra-" She cut herself off as she noticed that John was stretching out towards the child on Shaniqua's lap. "Oh, looks like John wants to play with your little boy there. You mind?" She waited for affirmation from Shaniqua.
She didn't have to wait long as Shaniqua hefted her child onto the ground. "Sure, Nicholas here does need to at least be a bit active. He's needs to burn all of his lunch off." Mama Sarrah did the same and put John on the ground, who then walked over to Nicholas after giving Sarah a "Thank you!"
John grasped onto Nicholas' free hand. "Come!" He said. "Come! Let's go play with mud!" So, both Nicholas and John went on to do so. Both Mama Sarah and Shaniqua went back to talking, but stopped once they heard Terry and Samantha scream and shout in shock. They quickly looked over to them to see what was happening, before being relieved when they just saw Nicholas and John running away from the other two kids. Their hands dirty with mud, and the head of Samantha and back of Terry dirty with mud.
Samantha and Terry proceeded to chase after the two three-year-olds, and the two toddlers screaming in excitement and fear as they grasped hands to make sure they both stayed upright while running.
Today was the day that John made life-long friends with Nicholas Tailor.
