I just finished up the very last page of Into the Woods! It's a strange feeling - I've been working on it non stop since July of last year, and boy, what a ride it's been!
It's been fun, challenging, and very rewarding. Most of the time, it was also a relaxing and enjoyable experience, though there were occasionally weeks where I had to throw every bit of spare time into the comic to deal with particularly challenging scenes, or busy personal life - but I've managed to keep the upload schedule consistent, releasing a new page every four days this whole time without fail. I'm damn proud of that. I'm also really proud of how much my art has improved. Once I release the last page I'm planning on doing a few comparisons between my art style in the beginning and at the end... I guess drawing five to six panels of art, page after page, day in, day out for half a year has made for good practice. And I guess it turned out pretty damn good all in all, because this little community has just about quadrupled since the comic started!
So, the elephant in the room: The most recent page very clearly isn't the end, so... what gives? Well, as I've mentioned on my art streams in the past, I'm going on a trip shortly, and I wanted to make sure that I didn't have to take a sudden break and leave y'all hanging, especially during the climax of the comic - so I made sure to work up a buffer that would allow me to keep publishing new pages consistently while I was away. There's several more pages to go - but the actual work on them is now complete!
I did consider just releasing all the pages now, but I think it'll be better if I keep publishing every four days. I put out some feelers in the community, and they seemed to agree with me as well. Partially, I think since I have managed to be so very consistent, it'd be satisfying for me to keep the pace all the way to the end, but also, if I did release all of it now, you guys would have a big gap until I'm back and start drawing again, and again, that's half of the reason I built up this big buffer of pages to begin with.
I've still got time before my trip so I'm working on a few full color pinups now - I'll release a WIP for those soon.
