Storytelling is a passion of mine, and it has taken different forms throughout my life - obviously, you guys know I do comics, but I've been writing for just as long as I've been drawing; only behind the scenes.
I've written some short stories, and a few years ago I wrote a manuscript for a sci-fi novel which I've been trying to publish, though so far I've been unsuccessful. As it turns out, it's reeeeally hard to break into the writing industry, and the thought struck me that perhaps a different approach is in order:
Why not actually just lean into the thing I'm already a part of? And so.... I'm writing a furry novel!
In the past, I've tried to keep my writing entirely separate from the fandom, because as much as I love this place, it does appeal to... base desires. I don't think drawing furry smut will help establish me as a legitimate author, which if I could ever be lucky enough to do it professionally would be my dream job .
But hey, at the same time, I have a comic being published right now (it's aaaaalmost ready!!) and my foot's already in the door, so it would be silly to not make the most of that. That's not to suggest I'd rather be writing other stuff, and that I'm pivoting to the furry space in order to 'game the system' or something, because that's not the case - I'm genuinely hyped about this.
I already have a rough draft of the first couple of chapters and I've spent a fair amount of time outlining a rough direction I want to take the story in. It's a noir thriller, which I think is somewhat underrepresented when it comes to furry fiction!
So long story short - are y'all interested in reading? If so, I'd love to share it and get some honest feedback.
