This week I finished the animations for this update, continued working on the script, and re-rendered a few images.

The animations for the final scene are now complete; there are seven animations featuring Mrs. Bellmere and the MC, and these are the last ones for this update—and the last ones I’ll be creating using traditional methods. My plans for the next update are to use AI to improve both the quality and fluidity of the new animations using a hybrid method. This method involves rendering a couple of frames from an animation and creating the video from them; it will require some experimentation, but the potential for improvement is huge.

I’ve resumed work on the motel scene script. I’ve written the arrival, the first transition scenes, and the first conversation. This week I plan to finish the remaining script—or at least most of it—so I can move on to the proofreading phase and have it ready in two weeks.

It’s taking much longer than I expected, but the number of renders I’ve accumulated makes that inevitable. To give an example. The first update I released after 0.01 was a journey that took two in-game days and required fewer than 300 renders in total. In this update, just the motel section alone includes 330 renders and seven animations, each of which requires between 100 and 125 renders.

Since switching computers, I’ve been able to render faster and create a much larger amount of content. But that content has to be supported by the script, and that's where the problem lies: no matter how powerful the computer is, the script requires many hours of coding, and I can't rush that.

The plan for next week is to finish the script—or at least get it almost done—so we can spend the following week on the final tweaks.
