Here are the latest updates on the development of Gofile.
We have put in a lot of work over the past three months, both on the server architecture and the website.
In our last post, we talked about a new API and new features for direct links. Many of our users appreciated these updates, and we have spent some time stabilizing this new code base based on your recommendations.
Since then, we have continued to develop new features, and here are the main ones:
- A new content import feature has been added. This very handy feature allows you to import public content directly into your account without downloading it.
- A new search feature for your content has been implemented. The easiest way is to go to your root folder and search for content by its name. The search is recursive and looks through all your folders and subfolders.
- From now on, all images and videos will have thumbnails. These thumbnails are visible from their respective folders, allowing you to see an overview of your media gallery-style. Thumbnails are also used when you share your files on social networks like Discord or Twitter. Note that only newly posted media will have thumbnails.
- Optimizations on our database have cut in half the time needed to start a download. This also applies to the time needed to start a video.
- The API continues to evolve with new features. Just a reminder, all actions you can do on the website can also be done through the API. The documentation is sometimes a bit behind, but we try to update it regularly.
We are also in discussions with rclone for an official implementation of Gofile.
Rclone is a file synchronization tool. This will allow users to use rclone to automatically sync their Gofile tree structure with their computer and vice versa. This feature is currently in development and will be available in the coming months.
Gofile now has many features, most of which are unknown to the general public. We will eventually need to modify the user experience to highlight all the platform's possibilities. But that's a topic for later; for now, we are focusing on finishing all the features planned in our roadmap.
