It has already become March here in Japan, but please allow me to treat this as my final post for February!
Work did not progress very well in February, so I was unable to make much headway on Rebis’s beloved all-ages manga, “Anime-Tamae! Tensei Maidens.”
However, rather than leaving you with only that report, today I would also like to share a practice illustration.
Although this scene appears a bit later in the main story, this is a practice drawing imagining a moment where Hasshaku-Sama is on the verge of awakening as a supernatural being that attacks humans.
(It is still undecided whether this will be used in the main story as is.)
At this point, I considered pushing her transformation further into something more inhuman… but after much deliberation, I decided not to alter her overall form too drastically.
(I even drafted versions where her neck and waist were elongated to create a tall, eerie inhuman look, and where her fingers and nails were extended in a more monstrous way… but I chose to prioritize the “Anime-Tamae!” style. Though personally, I do love more inhuman designs as well!!)
Taking this opportunity, I also revised her dress, since its structure had been somewhat unclear even to me.
Hasshaku-Sama is a theme portrayed by many creators, which makes her a deep, challenging, yet very enjoyable subject.
I will continue to do my best on all of my projects. Thank you again for your support in March!
日本では日付が3月になってしまいましたが、これを2月ラストの投稿とさせて下さい！
2月は作業が滞っていたもので、Rebisの愛すべき一般向け漫画『あにめたまえ！天声の巫女』もあまり進めることができませんでした。
しかしそんなご報告だけではなんですので、今日は練習用のイラストもお目にかけます！
本編ではまだもう少し先ですが、八尺様が「人間を襲う怪異として目覚めそうになっちゃってるシーン」をイメージした練習絵です！
（本編にこのまま使うかどうかは未定です）
このタイミングでもうちょっと異形化してもいいかな…とも思ったのですが、悩んだ末にあまりフォルムは変えませんでした。
（もっと首や腰を伸ばしてヒョロ長い異形感を出してみたり、指と爪をモンスターみたいに伸ばしたり…という下書きもしたんですが、『あにめたまえ！』らしさを優先してみました。でも個人的には異形も好き！！）
またこれを機に、ちょっと自分でも構造が曖昧だったワンピースを手直ししました。
八尺様はたくさんの作家さんが描いているテーマなので、奥深く、悩ましくも楽しい題材です。
