A Strange Doll That Turns Married Women into Gyaru! The Gyaru Doll 人妻をギャルに変える怪！　ギャル人形

The youkai lecture I’m bringing you this time is about the “Gyaru Doll.”

This isn’t a gyaru version of an existing youkai—it’s a strange being that was already extremely gyaru-like in the original source! Please take a look.

The Gyaru Doll is a mysterious entity that appears in the kaidan book Yūgure Kaidan.It is a gyaru-like doll with blonde hair and tanned skin that was discovered under the floor of a certain private home.

This doll causes the wives living in that house to develop a taste for flashy makeup and gaudy gyaru-style clothes, whether they are in their thirties or even elderly women in their seventies.After it was discovered, the doll was supposedly entrusted to a Buddhist temple to be memorialized—but instead, it is said to have turned even the Buddhist priest’s wife into a tanned gyaru.

Since this comes from the so-called “real-life kaidan” genre—horror tales told in the style of personal accounts—the doll’s true identity and backstory remain unknown. But it’s a really fascinating strange entity, isn’t it?

So, while this is not a direct recreation of the original kaidan, I took inspiration from it and turned it into a youkai girl character for the world of Anime-Tamae!

In the original story, the doll is described as a naked, grimy doll. But that would be difficult to adapt directly into a character, so I designed her as a tanned gyaru ball-jointed doll youkai.

A youkai who uses her supernatural power to turn more and more people into tanned gyarus! The original story doesn’t make it clear whether her targets are limited to married women, so I think it works well to give her the ability to gyaru-fy anyone.

And that was my introduction to a very distinctive youkai character who seems like she could appear in a manga just like this!

ギャル人形は怪談本『夕暮怪談』に登場する怪異です。

とある民家の床下から発見された、金髪で小麦色の肌をした、ギャルっぽい人形。

それはその家に住む人妻を、三十代だろうが七十代の老妻だろうが、ド派手な化粧とケバい服のギャル姿を好むようにしてしまう存在です。

発見後はお寺に預けられて供養される――かと思いきや、その寺の住職の妻まで黒ギャルに変えてしまったと言われています。

いわゆる実話怪談ジャンルの本なので、その正体や因縁は不明。でも凄く面白い怪異(?)ですね！

というわけで、怪談そのままの再現ではありませんが、着想をいただいて『あにめたまえ！』ワールドの妖怪娘としてキャラクター化してみました！

原話では裸の薄汚れた人形……とのことなのですが、そのままではキャラ化しづらいので、黒ギャル球体関節人形な妖怪としてデザインしました。

妖力で人々をどんどん黒ギャル化してしまう妖怪！　対象が人妻限定なのかどうかは原話でも不明なので、誰でもギャル化できる能力で良さそうです。

このまま漫画に出せそうな、濃いキャラの妖怪をご紹介しました～！
