Hey everyone. Hope you've been having a good week so far. I've personally really enjoyed my replay so far. The heatwave IRL? Not so much.
Regardless, I am here with a mod preview. With the recent proper teaser for Edgerunners 2 I knew I had to make something for it. So of course I did the eyes of our main characters. Hand-drawn by me on an iPad and using the Procreate drawing app. I eyedropped the colours from trailer screenshots so I could get the shades accurate. It was alot of fun doing these, and I really need to do something like this for the OG runners crew.
Who else is half excited and half dreading the emotional rollercoaster that Season 2 is 100% going to be?
Here's a pretty extensive look at the Eyes:
As you can see, each character has Custom UI Icons for their respective sets. I really wanted to try and reflect how we see them in the trailer. For D, I went for a little Blackwall-style snapshot. Given how he seems to be using it (willingly or not...I think maybe he's wrestling with an AI like Songbird) in the teaser. All those red sparks and effects around him? I'm convinced it's Blackwall stuff.
Also leaned into the Netrunner aesthetic.
Roman's icons were really fun to do. I created the recording overlay myself, in a couple minutes of fiddling with Powerpoint. I then paired that with a more muted background so the eyes shone more.
I really like those.
With Talia, I used a blurred version of the Maelstrom logo. I do still wish she'd had the full Maelstrom style headgear, but her near fully cybernetic body almost makes up for it. Hers were fun to do and they are the ones I wanted the most.
Also tried to get a neon effect on her icons.
With Weak, given we see him primarily using guns in the trailer and also showing signs of cyberpsychosis, I went with a bullet-hole style background for his icons. I paired that with some more minimalistic details.
These also turned out pretty solid.
And as you've all seen, there are 20 colour options. The first 8 of each set are the characters' original eye colours & reversed versions of those. All the rest are some super vibrant colours I felt worked well with the whole anime aesthetic. In addition to those, each characters' eyes have 3 different sclera options. Those are black, human, and white. I've seperated the Anime Accurate from the smooth, as well as the different sclera options. Meaning each character will have 6 seperate CCXL eye sets.
Yes, this was alot of work, but I think they're gonna look great when I port them after my Hiatus.

I swear if the kid dies I am going to lose my shit. Fingers crossed. Though we know there aren't any true Happy Endings in Night City.
