Clink. Clank. Kasshk.

Insight Function: [ACTIVE]

This is an in-depth look, stage by stage, of drafting a panel! I've been wanting to post something like this for a while. I know I always find it interesting from other artists.

Stage 1: Pencils

Drawing my figure onto my initial thumbnail (a thumbnail is a proto-sketch) for the page...

...defining shapes and details...

...adding his face + more details...

...sketching the background...

...found refs for the background + planning lettering...

...sketching out the background some more...

Stage 2: Inks & Lettering

Inking Buzz!

Inking the BG + lettering!

Stage 3: Colours

Background colours: painted quickly all in one layer.

Adding background detail, and also colour correcting.

Colouring the figure in a separate layer.

Adding more details into the background + foreground...

Adding glow using Lighten and Overlay layers!

And finally: adding a faint halo around him to help differentiate him from the background!

And that's it! It's a bit hard for me to record my process for these because usually I switch from my iPad to my PC midway. Buuut this panel of little Buzzling has been brought to life! Hope this was insightful!
