Some stuffs:
My tablet ate another usb cable - apparently the original one was actually a hero for lasting as long as it did. I've ordered a replacement (since they're male-to-male, you can't really just go out and get one - literally nothing around me carries them lmao). Not the biggest deal but it did kind of throw off my end-of-busy-month crunch. Surge still needs some "liquid effects", the sketches need their finishing touches and the Pomni thing was still an early WIP when it died. (I had to break out my old Bamboo - which the driver for isn't even supported by modern Windows apparently - to write the text on the sketches so they wouldn't be totally contextless lmao). That said all that will be together tomorrow or over the weekend. The only thing that it really threw off was the Beta+Piro painting, which will be getting ground out in all its glory asap.
Buuut while the tablet is out of commission I just pivoted to Blender since I am incapable of sitting still. I figured out how to step a simulation to match the keyframe of a rig (so I can animate on 2s and have the hair sim be on 2s as well instead of 1s). You can see this in the little tongue test animation - though I think I need to redo that one because it will probably be less thrashy if I ran the sim on a fully curved version of the timeline and then stepped it back rather than simulating on the holds.
Aria's stretch needs some work - as you can tell in that bulge test anim she's a little more rigid than I would like in that department, though I did manage to get a better handle on working with nonlinear animation, and fiddled with some setup simulation (which isn't present in the test render since it's still a WIP thing, but in the final she should be on a simulated mattress). Little steps.
April's big distraction (wedding) went smoothly, I'm going to try to get more ahead of my art to-do before May's big distraction (wedding 2) so it doesn't roll over. (Assuming the issue with my tablet IS the cable and not something that's going to be way more of an issue, lmao). Hopefully no more sudden familial nonsense (everyone's fine, just grandma being old) to throw off my schedule here and I can dig myself out of the hole a little bit more.
