Hey everyone!
I've been thinking about removing the “import, export, and copy characters” benefit from the Advocate tier and opening those features up to all users instead.
I've been considering making this change due to the increased development of resources that require an exported character file (.guidechar) - such as an import into FoundryVTT. When I first designed the import/export feature, for some reason, I never considered the fact that others might want to develop resources that utilize these files.
The reason why I include the import and copying characters benefits with export is that I see them as a bundle. I think if exporting characters is given to everyone, the ability to then import those characters should come with it. Copying is included because exporting then importing a character is effectively the same thing as copying that character.
I think, for the growth of Wanderer's Guide and supported resources, opening this set of features up to all users would be best. However, ultimately, I will leave this choice up to you, the patrons.
With that said, if those features are removed from the Advocate tier, I would like to replace them with something else. Any ideas are welcome in the comments below, with these restrictions:
I won't restrict access to any content produced by Paizo.
I'm not going to put ads on the site.
I already have some plans for GM tools (encounter builder, campaign manager, shop generator, etc).
Without further ado, should the Advocate tier benefit of “import, export, and copy characters” be removed and given to all users instead?
