Hello everyone, and happy New Release Monday! Today, I am sharing a new twist on an old map; The Luna Crossroads V2.0!
Though this map was inspired by the CoS setting, I feel it's generic enough to use in just about any campaign setting and any game system.
My original map combined both the river and crossroads together, but this time around, I wanted both locations to get an equal spotlight and allow their features to breathe a bit on the map (Plus extend their versatility in your games).
I stayed pretty true to the module description of this location by creating an almost "X" shaped crossroads. The NE road leads toward Vallaki, the SE road leads down toward the swamps of Berez, the SW road leads on toward Krezk, and the NW road leads up toward the lake and Van Richten's Tower.
There is a broken signpost located at the central junction, and while your party tries to figure out where to go, it creates the perfect spot for an ambush of Twig Blights lurking amongst the brush!
I made the SE and NW roads more rough and tumble since they don't receive much, if any, trade traffic and are far less traveled than the NE to SW roads.
I wanted the roads here to feel muddy while the surrounding terrain felt uneven and rocky with looming pines and gnarled oak creaking in the howling wind.
I also created a "No Tree" version of each color mood as well to help with token placement from within the trees.
For my VTT crowd, I will be providing tree tops as overlay tiles you can use as a foreground layer to move tokens under the branches and tree tops.
I made this in two methods:
Full tree coverage (all the tree tops on one layer)
Quartered coverage, where I took each quarter and created separate tree tops files. The thought here is that if you're using a more robust tool like Foundry, you can make only the quadrant vanish, and the token moves under instead of all of the trees on the entire map. I feel this makes it a bit more immerisve but let me know what you think!
A note on weather variants
Looking for the fog or rain variants? I'm now including my weather as overlay tiles so you can apply your own weather effects in your various VTTs. This also helps keep the file size down both on the .zip file and the Foundry module, and makes the maps a little easier to organize. I've custom-created fog, rain, and sun ray weather effects and will ensure each overlay tile is sized to match its corresponding map.

I hope you've enjoyed this updated map! I have plenty more V2.0 maps on my workbench, so be on the lookout for them in March.
This will be the last release for Feb, and I'll be taking the first week in March off from releasing (Since March is a 5 Monday month). But I have some pretty grand map projects planned!
To kick things off, I've partnered with map maker D&Demetrius to create an interior/exterior dungeon map inspired by a fantastic location from BG3! So you'll be getting two maps in that first release, with my map being the exterior and D&Demetrius map being the interior.
Then I have a few more CoS v2.0 maps planned, as well as the next location from Saltmarsh, so I'll have some exciting releases coming up next month.
Thank you always and forever for your continued support of my work!
Cheers friends,
DM Andy
