Moonlight spills across the temple floor like pale wine poured from the heavens. The stone here is old but well kept, polished by prayer and quiet footsteps rather than war. Silver sigils of the moon are carved into the tiles beneath your boots, each one catching the faint light that falls through the broken roof and high archways.Your party has come a long way to behold the glory of the Lunar Goddess. Here, in her Sanctuary of Splendor, quiet sisters of the faith tend to the shrine and the holy relics of the moon. As you approach the center of sanctum, the lunar waves rejuvenate you.
Welcome back Lunar revelers! Tonight we have a very special sanctum to share with you all, the Temple of the Moon, a grand collaboration between myself and one of the greatest cartographers out there, DM Andy! We both wanted to tackle an Interior / Exterior dungeon map you can drop into your various campaigns. Feeling inspired by the Goblin Camp encounter from BG3, we decided to tackle our own take on this really cool map! A lost Temple of the Moon Goddess, overrun by the hordes of goblins and defiled.

Map Description
The path into the temple winds through broken stone and old battlements before opening into a vast sanctum carved directly into the rock. Once a place of ruin and desecration, it now stands restored, its ancient halls reclaimed by pale moonlight and careful devotion. Tall pillars rise toward a fractured ceiling where silver light spills through jagged openings, bathing the chamber below in a soft, ghostly glow.
Stone bridges and narrow stairways wind between different levels of the sanctuary, leading from shadowed side chambers into the grand central hall. Lunar symbols are etched across the floors and walls, their lines polished smooth by centuries of prayer. Statues of the moon goddess watch over the temple from every corner, serene and eternal, their stone faces turned toward the open sky above.
Adventure Hooks
The Silver PilgrimageA small order of moon-priests seeks to reclaim the ancient temple after decades of abandonment. They believe the goddess has begun to stir once more, sending dreams of pale light and open doors. The party is hired to escort them through the wilds and ensure the sanctuary is truly safe.
The Missing PriestessA young priestess was sent to rekindle the temple’s sacred flame but never returned. Her last message spoke of strange reflections in the moonlit pools and whispers echoing between the statues at night.
The Moon That Watches BackTravelers who sleep within the temple claim the moon above looks different through the shattered ceiling. Larger. Closer. Some wake with silver marks upon their skin, shaped like the holy symbols carved into the floor.
The Broken IdolOne statue of the goddess lies shattered near the altar, its head missing. Without it, the temple’s blessings seem weak and uncertain. A scholar believes the missing piece was taken deeper into the surrounding ruins for some unknown purpose.
The Return of the TideA sacred basin within the temple has begun to fill again with luminous water that appears only under moonlight. Those who drink from it glimpse visions of distant places and forgotten roads. A powerful patron wishes to claim the basin for themselves.
Variant Hooks
Goblin Occupation VariantThe temple’s silence has been replaced by crude laughter and the stink of cookfires. Goblins now squat among the statues, painting rude symbols over the sacred carvings. Their chieftain sits upon the altar itself, convinced the moon goddess has chosen him as her prophet.
Full Moon Ritual VariantOn the night of the full moon, robed figures gather within the temple to perform an ancient rite long thought forgotten. Silver light floods the chamber, and the statues appear almost to move. The ritual promises great blessings, but only if it is completed before the moon sets.
Portals VariantMoonlit circles carved into the temple floor have begun to glow once more. Each one opens into a different distant place when touched by silver light. Some lead to forgotten shrines, others to lands that no longer exist on any map.
Shadowfell VariantThe moonlight here has grown dim and cold. Shadows stretch too long across the floor, pooling around the statues like dark water. Somewhere within the temple a thin veil has torn, and something from the other side now walks the halls where prayers once echoed.
